With the holiday craziness behind us and summer vacations months away, coolertemperatures beckon us to curl up inside, relax, and gather for some indoorentertainment, family-style!Grab your matching PJs and fuzzy socks. The night is all about togetherness andlaughter! Ready, set, let’s go!Pizza and popcorn, anyone? How about a hot chocolate board for dessert? Nofancy food tonight. The evening is completely no muss, no fuss. The simpler, the better, right? Challenge yourselves to be creative and use whatyou have at home.Don’t just sit on the couch for movie night. Instead, recreate a drive-in theaterinside your home. Depending on the kids’ sizes, grab laundry baskets, emptystorage tubs, or cardboard boxes and line them with pillows. Let the kids pick outtheir own “cars,” and you can push them around as you “drive” them to theTV…ahem, theater.Anyone up for a game of tic-tac-toe? Nab a beach towel and some plastic orpaper plates, a.k.a. game pieces (with paper plates, you can draw X’s on them).Next, take some string or something similar and form a grid on top of the towel.Have any toy cars? Painter’s tape? Make a curvy racetrack on the floor and revthose engines!Next up is something sure to bring on the belly laughs! Go around the house withpaper bags or pillowcases and fill them with toilet paper rolls, hats, neckties, jewelry, sunglasses, feather boas, wigs, stick-on mustaches…you get the picture. Each bag should be different. The wackier the better! Pair everyone into teams(adult/child teams if possible). Hand each team a bag and set a timer. No earlypeeking! One person in each team gets to dress the other person using items onlyin their bag. Then, the teams will switch roles for an equally hilarious secondround. And of course, what would the night be without board games? Grab a few favesfrom storage–the more, the merrier.Staying in was never so much fun!
