It’s the Great Pumpkin Patch
Ahhh, the ubiquitous pumpkin. A beloved symbol of fall and Halloween.
The star of the show. Pumpkin pie…check. Pumpkin spice latte…check. Pumpkin carving…not so fast, my little ghouls! We may be missing a little (or not so little) something. Perhaps you know him—Mr. O’ Lantern, or Jack to his friends.
So, bundle up and pile the kids in the car. We’re goin’ on a little adventure. We’re comin’, Jack, and have we found a couple of pumpkin patches for you!
Anyone up for an aMAZing challenge? How about 10-acres of pure allure, drawing you in further and further as you try to navigate your way out? The Solvang Farmer Pumpkin Patch is known for having one of the best corn mazes in the county. Don’t worry if this king-size maze is too much—there’s a kids maze as well (guaranteed to keep your ego intact, wink, wink!). Once you’ve made your way through those giant corn stalks, take a breather on a hay bale, or have a go at finding the perfect pumpkins, gourds, and squash. All grown right there on the farm at 1035 Alamo Pintado Road. Call (805) 331-1948 with any questions. Visit any time before November 1st when the farm rolls up until next Autumn.
Not to be outdone, Brookshire Farms Pumpkin Patch, on the border of San Luis Obispo and Los Osos, is one of the most popular patches around. Be sure to purchase admission to the farm adventure area—consider it your all-day pass to hayrides, an obstacle course, inflatable slides, rubber duck races, a playground, and of course, a corn maze. Can’t get enough? Night owls, grab your flashlights. The maze is yours to explore after dark…if you dare. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. Brookshire Farms is located at 4747 Los Osos Valley Road and can be reached at (805) 549-8733. Check them out at brookshirefarms.com.
These guys are so good that you can leave your scarecrows in storage. From Santa Barbara to Santa Maria, from Arroyo Grande to San Luis Obispo, the Central Coast pulls out all the stops when it comes to celebrating fall and Halloween. You know what they say…go big or gourd home! Sorry, not sorry!
