Discover Two of the Best Central Coast Pumpkin Patches
Here, on the stunning Central Coast, autumn is like no other.
Crisp, cool air. Farm-fresh apple cider. Vineyards ablaze with magnificent hues of
crimson, orange, and golden leaves.
While basking in the glow of this beautiful season, one of our most cherished
pastimes take center stage.
What would fall be without a trip to the pumpkin patch?
Grab the kids, bundle up, and get ready for some wholesome family fun on the
farm! Leave the holiday decorations in storage for a little bit longer and enjoy the
magical experiences coming your way.
Read on for two of our favorites.
Avila Valley Barn
Avila Valley Barn sparks pure joy.
A year-round treasure with the locals for nearly 40 years, the farm is an absolute
must-visit, particularly in the fall.
You’ll be greeted with a pumpkin and gourd display sure to outshine all others.
We’re talking 45 different varieties! If, perhaps, you’re looking for something a
little more hands-on, venture into the field to pick your very own perfect
pumpkins.
And what’s a trip to the pumpkin patch without a hayride? For the more
adventurous among you, there’s also a hay maze to explore.
Little ones will love the pony rides, and everyone—young and old alike—will
delight in visiting and feeding the animals in the petting zoo.
No visit to Avila Valley Barn is complete without exploring the wonders inside the
Country Store. Gorgeous flowers and produce abound, along with delectable
homemade pies and cobblers baked fresh from the oven. The olallieberry, a
Central Coast specialty, is a must-try! You’ll also find beautiful cookbooks,
charming kitchenware, delicious jams and spreads, and so much more.
While there, enjoy the sweetest roasted corn you’ll ever eat. Be sure to save
room for a sandwich, hot dog, or tri-tip from the restaurant or a yummy treat
from the Sweet Shoppe or caramel apple stand.
The Avila Valley Barn is located at 560 Avila Beach Drive in San Luis Obispo. Visit
www.avilavalleybarn.com or call (805) 595-2816 for more information.
Solvang Farmer Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze
One of the most popular tourist destinations on the Central Coast, Solvang is
famous for its charm—and, of course, its mouthwatering Danish pastries.
In the fall, this quaint town is also home to the legendary Solvang Farmer
Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze.
After loading up on fabulous farm-grown pumpkins, gourds, and squash, dive into
the outrageous corn maze—14 acres of twists and turns and endless fun! This
year, they’ve added even more excitement with a scavenger hunt hidden within
the maze. Can you find all five hidden symbols? For our little explorers, there’s a
Kids Maze, so no one misses out. Tickets are $10 and $5, respectively.
Calling all thrill-seekers—this challenge is right up your alley! Test your navigation
skills in the Night Maze from 6-9 p.m. Just don’t forget your flashlights, or you’ll
be in the dark! The cost is $15 per person.
As you make your way out of the towering corn stalk maze, claim your victory,
and relax on a hay bale as you savor farm-fresh popcorn and kettle corn.
You can find the Solvang Farmer Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze at 1035 Alamo
Pintado Road. Call (805) 331-1948 with any questions.
These are just two of our favorite pumpkin patches among many. From Santa Barbara
to Santa Maria, from Arroyo Grande to San Luis Obispo, the Central Coast pulls
out all the stops when it comes to celebrating fall and Halloween.
Go big or gourd home! Sorry, not sorry!
