Before Gobbling That Feast, Give Your Turkey Legs a Run for Fun!
When it comes to Thanksgiving, do you find yourself dreaming of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes … and let’s not forget pumpkin pie? I mean, c’mon.
Do you need a nap just thinking about it?
The turkey might be the star of the show, but you can take center stage in your local Turkey Trot! Whether you walk or waddle, plump up those feathers and strut on over to your nearest race!
Sure, you promised to grab the china and silver from storage as you prepare for your feast, but first, nab the gang for some outdoor family fun. After all, Thanksgiving is about togetherness.
On November 18th, the City of Santa Maria invites you to make your way to Santa Maria River Levee Multi-Purpose Trail (off North Preisker Lane) and join the 27th Annual Turkey Trot Fun Run. The 5K, open to participants ages 14 and older, begins with check-in at 8am followed by the race at 9am. For those younger turkeys among us, ages 6-13, the Kids 1-Mile Fun Run begins immediately after the 5K race ends. The entry fee is $25 (fees increase to $35 after November 9th), benefiting People for Leisure and Youth, Inc. For more details, call (805) 925-0951, x2260 or check out www.cityofsantamaria.org.
Any little turkeys out there in Arroyo Grande? Join the annual Turkey Trot hosted by the City of Arroyo Grande Recreation Services Department along with the Arroyo Grande Lions Club on November 12th at the Arroyo Grande High School Track beginning at 1pm. This race is a fun run only for preschoolers – 8th graders (boys and girls race separately), so all of you older turkeys can breathe a sigh of relief and cheer from the sidelines. The youngest gobblers will race 1/8 of a mile with the distance gradually increasing up to one mile for the oldest racers. The entry fee is $5.00. Visit www.arroyogrande.org/catalog for more information or to register.
Happy wobbling and gobbling!
